I've always wondered... ever since I saw how you mount the PSU into the Corsair Air 540. The case has caught my eye recently, and while I know Corsair wouldn't force you to use an improper orientation... is it optimal? I've never vertically mounted a PSU. Will it affect life span? Fan noise?

The case is going to be on a little bit of an angle, like 4 degrees. My house is a little weird... Doubt it'll affect it, hasn't affected my other builds from what I can tell.

If its on carpet, I  recommend pointing it up so that it draws air from the case.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

Depending on the amount of heat your other components put out and the air flow of your case it can have a noticable effect on the noise. Having it pull fresh air can reduce the speed your psu fan has to spin to keep the psu cool. Talking  from personal experience.

The Air 540 mounting allows for PSUs with sleeve fan bearings to last awhile longer since sleeve bearings are not supposed to be mounted horizontally like they typically are in power supply configurations. So that matters.

Another thing to note is that you should not place a fanless PSU on its side like that as it needs air to breathe oh either side of the PSU, as in the left and right sides, not top and bottom. I remember asking Corsair about this and they basically said I would have to remove parts of an Air 240 to allow the PSU to breathe properly.

Also, in a standard configuration PSU like in, I dunno, a Define R5, you definitely want the fan facing down as that allows it to breathe better and last longer as it doesn't have to fight with GPUs for air. If your system is on carpet then it makes sense to flip it fan side up.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
