So this morning CCleaner told me that I could save 3.5 GB of space so I thought I might as well do a clean. I clicked all the boxes and reading what came up if it came up, and I didn't really mind about anything that it said. So I did the clean and at ~90% it said it'd take something like 3 hours. So I canclled it and it didn't say I shouldn't. I thought nothing of this until none of my programs would open. I then restarted my computer and everthing looked normal until the Windows logo came up with the spooning circle underneath. It did its thing then went black for a split second then one my primary screen t went black and on my second screen it carried on with the loading screen.

So I did a factory restore reluctantly and it was fine. So I logged back to find a black screen with the cursor as well movable between my two screens.

At this point I did ctr+alt+del and opened up task manager. Then I did tried to open up explorer through the task manager and it didn't come up. I've tried all the program that I could find on there and none of them opened up. I turned my computer off and on again multiple times with no joy.

Has as anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

I had this never found out what was wrong. Every time i logged it it went to a blank screen or just said "logging in" forever. I fixed it by installing ubuntu :)

You could try a mem test from the windows installer and check the drivers for errors.

I'm using a HHD

It could be that the drive failed for a moment. Mechanical drive can fail, and recover (if that is the case, i would no longer trust it). Or like I said, a bug in CCleaner, and started deleting files it should not.

That is not helping, and not a solution at all. This shows that you don' know what you are doing or saying.

was a great solution for me, couldn't be bothered with it breaking every few days.

this last time before I installed I had a weird error where virtualbox machines wouldn't start and hyper-V would fail to install.

next error was profile not found and any other users were block from logging in by group police.

my best guess is registry corruption, it must be a software issue as ubuntu is running just fine.

VirtualBox can't be installed and used with Hyper-V enabled.

And I don't know what you did to break your accounts.

A solution for you, is not a solution for others. Does his software and games work under Ubuntu? How about hardware? Do you have a guaranty that it will work and provide max performance as he/she did under Windows or better? No.

I just started my solution which has turn out rather well, virtualbox failed before hyper was even enabled so that wasn't the issue. I did a system restore and then tried ti enable hyper v which failed to install.

I have no idea either and it really bugs me. After a few days to a week of running windows 10 it goes like OP black screens when logging on.

@Jihakuz what hardware are you using see if we have anything the same. I have 8350, 8gb ram, 7770 amd vertex 4 ssd

This is windows subforum, don't recommend user to switch to linux.  Windows is way easier to use than linux and has more software surport than linux. Tq

Also ccleaner is probably to blame, I didn't use ccleaner anymore as Microsoft suggested me not to use anything with registry cleaner which could potentially damage the windows os. If you need space you can use disk cleanup.

I actually did have CC installed at that time. For the purpose of science (and me wanting skyrim back) I'm back on windows/ Will see if any of the issues come up again.

Edit: so after finally installing an anti virus (avari to exact) and then connecting to my nas to get my back ups it detected a virus, A trojan/bitcoin.

I now assume this infection was the cause of my black screens and lag.
