Okay, I have a major problem. I recently bought the RX 480 for testing purposes, and it was working fine until I loaded the GTA 5 benchmark on high settings. My monitors went black, saying there was no video signal, so I took the card out and moved it to my 2nd PCI slot. After running the same benchmark on the same settings, my monitors went black again. Apparently, a lot of other people have experienced the same problem, most of them saying the card takes too much power form the PCI slots. I know AMD is working on a driver to fix this issue, but is there any way to fix this problem now? Thanks

It works fine until I start playing a graphically demanding game.

I'd check to see if the voltage and clocks are set to default in the Radeon Settings menu.

I'd try lowering the clock speed a little along with the voltage just a tad. Just to see if you can get it going for a while.

Spoiler

sort of a different question than what is asked here.... but does AMD have a return policy or refund policy or something in place for these issues? its plaguing a lot of people and I'm wondering if they have steps in place to reimburse people they sold their defective cards to. Rather than just a "wait and maybe we can fix it"

As far as your situation goes, you can undervolt (since the reason its crashing is its drawing more power from the PCIE port than your motherboard can handle). You can also (if you have one) use a higher quality motherboard with more power phases/power allocation. Having a motherboard like that has allowed some people to not experience this issue.

Welcome to the forums.

The problem you're facing is indeed what should happen when your motherboard PCI Express slot cannot provide enough power. The computer should shut off.

Some solutions you can follow are:

1) Under-volt the card,

2) Power limit the card upto -20%.

Unfortunately some motherboards cannot provide a lot of sustained power through the PCI Express slot. While this is not the first case of cards pulling (in fact a lot) more power from the PCI Express slot, it's probably the first case of a card pulling consistently more from its slot.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.
