A rack mount case is a case that goes in a rack, self explanatory . It is often used in a server environments, and people usually just hide their racks in a closet or something for noise reduction, which is the approach Linus wanted to make with his PC.

If you are wondering what he uses for his personal pc, the one that he has at his house, it is a custom rack mounted case - as said above. If you are thinking of the one that he uses at his office, it is the Lian-Li PC-08WX. The Lian-Li PC-08WX looks like this.
