So, im currently building my first ever gaming PC and was wondering if I could have put anything better in the system for around the same price. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For around the same price, the only benefit you'll get is perhaps a slower (non-K) Skylake CPU. I'd stick with that, because Haswell is still a very good platform.
