I'm looking at getting the R5 Blackout edition and with the sound dampening materials in the case I don't want to set my rad up top. I was looking at putting it in the front or bottom. I know you can remove the drive cages and place it next to the PSU but does that impede onto motherboard? Wouldn't it block the MOBO? I need to know before I buy my parts.

The front would definitely not block the motherboard, the case is like 2 feet deep and the bottom might be an issue but I highly doubt it. Watch JayzTwoCents review of it as he does demos of where the radiators would be placed in the case. It might be the Define S I'm thinking of but either way, check his reviews of both.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I'm not talking about the rad but the drive cage placing it next to the PSU. I will check out his video thanks.

Checkout Artic Panther for a full custom watercooling bulid in the Define R5. the drive case works fine behind a radiator.

But I think a push pulll is of the essence in a situation like this. Static pressure fans on the front panel side and airflow fans on the inside. So it won't fit. Unless I get fan optimized for both?

Just use static pressure fans (or fans like the GP-14 that are optimized for general purpose use.). I also don't recommend push pull.

Why don't you recomend it? I currently have static pressure fans on the front of the case and airflow fans on the inside on my air 240 and it works great.

The benefits when using high quality sp fans are basically 0, and the thickness/noise tradeoffs are substantial. Although obviously if you have the fans already cool, but no point really.

Oh really? So I bought the airflow fans for no reason then...
