So my sister is going to college and so has come to me asking which laptop she should get for writing papers and college stuff obviously. So my dad is pitching in 750 dollars towards a laptop for her and she said the highest she can really go is 1,000 dollars. So she is obviously looking at a macbook air. I'm on here asking what she should get with that budget and if she can do better for herself by getting another laptop besides the macbook air. thanks

I mean, Macbook actually is quite a decent College laptop. Maybe a Y50 or a Razor Blade? @don_svetlio Is the Y50 a good college laptop?

define "college stuff" because it is just word, excel or powerpoint type stuff then a chrombook would give her the functionailty she needs and massive battery life. My c720 that i have had a few years now still gives me 5+ hours

if your sister needs a Windows based Laptop for things such as power point and excel, look into Lenovo laptops and dell. Lenovo normally has sales for college around school time.

I like how the razer blade stealth looks? would that be a good one?

The razer blade stealth is great! But it's quite expensive for a college laptop. But all in all, its a wonderful choice, with its power and long battery life.
