Cant Get Internet Through Switch, Or Cable

Ok, so me and a buddy just got a new CenturyLink Modem/Router and i cannot seem to get it connected through my switch. The wifi part works just fine, but to get everything wired it wont work. Right now i have my computer directly plugged into the modem router with a 75ft cable, and i cant seem to get it to even connect. And i cant even seem to get the switch to do much of anything. It is just a simple 5 port desktop switch from TP-Link.. any ideas?

What is the router brand given to you from CenturyLink. And, I'm from Oregon as well .

yeah, it turns out to be a bad cable  now i gotta buy another one
