Intel Core i7 6700 cooling solution

k2711000

Hi!

I'm using the stock cooler from intel for my i7 6700 and recently I have started uploading vids on youtube so I have to render (duh), when I am rendering the temps go as high as 85 degrees Celcius (176 degrees fahrenheit for you muricans). Should I consider a watercooling solution (I am thinking of the corsair h100i v2) or go with a decent aircooling solution (Noctua NH D15)? I have a budget of 170euros, please help! Where I live the corsair h100i v2 costs 170 euro and the Noctua NH D15 costs 110 euro so which is the best bang for my buck?

I bought a Noctua Nh-U14S with my i7 6700K. Silent and effective award winning cooler. Im very happy with it, and my i7 does not go over 74C at 4,3Ghz at 100% load in several hours.

Intel Core i7 6700K@4,3GHz - Asus Z170 Pro Gaming - Corsair Vengeance 16GB 2666MHz DDR4 - Evga SuperNova 750W PSU - Samsung EVO 500GB SSD - Gainward GTX 1080 GS - BenQ xl2411T 144hz - Cooler Master Haf-X Big Tower Nvidia Edition

I personally use a Hyper D92, its cheap, better than the Hyper 212 evo, and keeps my 6700k at 4.6ghz under 70*C while folding with all the horsepower it can. AIO liquid coolers are nice, but a pain in the ass to deal with when they fail and dont offer enough performace compared to an air cooler to justify their price. I owned an GTx h100i and it was good while it lasted, but the backplate is garbage and it doesnt seem to secure very well, as mine loosened up over time.

Since you have the 6700 and not the K, Id say just go with a decent air cooler. Getting an AIO on a locked chip is just a waste of money since you cant get any real benefits, aka overclocks.

CPU: I5 4590 Motherboard: ASROCK H97 Pro4 Ram: XPG 16gb v2.0 4x4 kit  GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 PSU: EVGA 550w Supernova G2 Storage: 128 gb Sandisk SSD + 525gb Mx300 SSD Cooling: Be Quiet! Shadow Rock LP Case: Zalman T2 Sound: Logitech Z506 5.1 Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma Keyboard: DBPower LED

As it is a locked CPU, you won't even need a Noctua NH-D15... This might be ideal for you - Noctua NH-U9S (approx. 55 euros)

http://fr.pcpartpicker.com/product/FcfmP6/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhu9s

As you can see, it's got excellent reviews from everyone who bought it. Excellent value with superb performance!

Nothing to see here ;)
