First Build CPU Choices

Is an i5 4690k a good cpu  to buy right now?

 

(Can't afford an i7

yes if you are upgrading and if you are just gaming it isnt worth it to get an i7. if you are getting a new motherboard, ram and everything i would recommend going skylake

then you might want to go with a skylake i5 because it has a better upgrade path

At current prices I'd only recommend the 4690K if you already had DDR3 memory laying around. There isn't much reason not to get the i5-6600K instead if you're buying new.
