Looks good to me, what are you planning to do with it. If its for gaming i would spend little bit more to get 960 and like 1tb of storage

It is not worth getting the 960. Would be better to get the RX 480 or 470 or even wait for the 1060.

If its budget build then 960 since its cheap atm and will be even cheaper once the 1060 and 470 drop. 480 is over 200 so its overshooting the budget quite a bit

The 470 shouldn't be much more expensive that the 960. And if he does go with older gen cards, then the R9 380 would be a better option than the 960.

Looking at the prices for the new cards it will be, but its down to preferance with the 380 and 960 Compare yourself. I personally prefer 960, but it depends on the person who is choosing

You act as if he can't upgrade down the road. I rather have an i5 build for better computing, gaming experience, than to have an i3 run a GTX 960. The 950 should be fine, and can run most games at medium setting with no problem. We don't even know if he's even gaming on 1080P, let alone a 720P. What games is he playing? I suggest the i5 over the i3 and we can talk dGPU's later. Especially if the build I gave him was roughly the same price for an i5.

Well this was predictable. The 380 and 380X are empirically better than the 960--and I own a 960 and love it.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Well at this budget performance is more important. The R9 380 will perform better period.

Almost as predictable as amd fanboys overhyping 480. But again ''  if you dont care if tis amd or nvidia then amd usually makes the better budget gpu's ''
