Good Enough Server For Hosting A Small Website

Me and my friend are starting up a website, and wanted to see if we could host our own for less than $350. I had some questions like how much ram is enough, cpu speed vs cores, and ssd vs hdd. Heres what I cam up with:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1045T 2.7GHz 6-Core Processor ($99.99 @ TigerDirect)

Motherboard: ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($60.97 @ Newegg)

Memory: Kingston Black Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($27.00 @ Amazon)

Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($117.28 @ TigerDirect)

Case: Rosewill FBM-01 MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($29.99 @ Amazon)

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($24.99 @ Newegg)

Total: $360.22

If its php based you wont utilize all those cores so more ghz is the goal, its quite overkill for a small site, but gives you future expandability when the site grows.

I personally run a 1.3 ghz Duron (single core) for my web server and it can handle quite a lot, so if you have someone giving an old pc away you can go with that.

If you are getting this then i'd go with an HDD or 2 for RAID, also throw some more ram in as well.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)
