My internet is 3mpbs/1mpbs and it has gone very slow.Sometimes I am not even getting that speed. Upgrading to a faster plan is not an option now. What are some networking equipment can make my internet faster and have better range? I have AT&T Uverse internet with a gateway ( 2Wire 3600HGV ). That is all for my networking setup.

Maybe try hooking your computer up via ethernet or getting a range extender. Or just check out unbox therapy on this video

EDIT: Also try seeing if unknown devices are connected or just disconnect other internet devices

If you're paying for 3 up & 1 down, there is no way your ISP is going to allow you to go past that. Sorry

I know that but is there anyway i can speed up my internet. like getting a consistent 3 mpbs speed. Would a new router work?

alright, check task manger to see if other, unknown or programs that don't need to have access to the internet and disable them. A new router would probably work but with the speeds that you have i'm not sure

The thing to keep in mind about ISPs is that they are providing up to 3 Mbps. At home, I pay for 150 Mbps down and have never run a test where I actually get 150 Mbps down. 99% of the time it's between 50 Mbps & 110 Mbps.

If you have really old hardware, a new router might speed up your connection, but most likely not.

How old is your router? (Approximately)

How are you connected to your router? (wifi/cable)

How many people are connected to your router at a single time?

The answers to these questions can make a huge difference
