My rig specs are -------  

1. CPU = Intel Core i5 6600k

2. GPU = Nvidia GTX 960 4gb 

3. MotherBoard = ASUS Z170 PRO Gaming

4. PSU = Corsair 650W

5. Case = Corsair Elite 310

7. RAM = G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB DDR4 2400 mhz 

8. Storage = 1 TB seageta barracuda 

 

Yes , Thats it , No SSD ,I have a budget around 1000$

 

My needs  -------

1. I will play a wide variety of games like gta v , watch dogs , shadow of mordor , witcher 3 , i mean all type of games at  a single 1080p monitor,

maybe look for 1440p in next 1-2 years , dont think i will be in 4k till next 3-5 years, if i will upgrade 960 to 1070 or 1080

(Note - I  will be playing all the games at ultra or high in 1080p)

 

2. I will also do a lot of productivity  and those high end stuff which requires a lot of cpu and gpu power like video editing , rendering all in 1080p, is these enough .

 

So thats all guys , hope you all help me out .. and remember no amd here :)

960 is not worth a damn anymore. RX 480 in 2 days.

Yeah don't get a 960 just wait for 480

Also - if you are going for a 1070/1080 then an i7 is a must. i5s bottleneck them

keep in mind that I live in india where whenever a product comes from another country where there is a lot of taxes ,,,For ex. - If a gpu is around 200$ in the country it is made and when it comes to india the cost will be around 450$ ,,so thats a huge difference thats why i went with this rig ......but you can suggest whatever you want :):):)

gtx 960 and rx480 have the same MSRP of 200 USD so i think whatever price you get for gtx960 you can get a rx480. But the price/performance ratio is gonna be much better with rx480. Rx480 is currently the best 1080p GPU, of course we need to wait till its released and see the real benchmarks.

You need to check the video editting software you are using to see if they support GPU, if they do, chances are they only support Nvidia CUDA core. In this case, you better off with a 2nd hand gtx970 and save money to buy a gtx1070. gtx960 is reeeeeeeeeeeally not worth buying. If they dont, then its pretty much depending on ur CPU.
