Hey guys,

I've obviously been playing BF4 beta with my new PC featuring a Sapphire Dual X Ghz Edition 7870 clocked at 1225 on Core and 1380 on memory, alongside an FX 8320 clocked at 4.2, I was wondering how your cards were performing. I saw a bunch of people in the games complaining about poor optimisation (even though it's a beta lol) and I just wasn't experiencing the "low" frame rates they had.

Anyway I did a 10 minute game with FRAPS and these were my results

Min: 30

Avg: 51.540

Max: 86 (was probably in a chopper so, never really stays up that high)

I had all settings set to Ultra (w/ HBAO Ambient Occlusion) except with AA Deferred on 2xMSAA since the difference:performance loss ratio isn't worth it for me. I was also running at 1080P on Catalyst 13.9 drivers.

How well are your cards going ATM? Enjoying the game?

If you were having the loading screen problem where it was just the black screen with loading in top right, I just restarted and everything worked again haha, though I'm assuming that's not your problem and/or it's not that easy

You can check out the benchmarks for the game here : https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/61740-bf4-beta-benchmarks-are-out/

Older generations of GPUs are really struggling.

Thanks :) Looks like my benchmark results were pretty accurate as well based on those scores, as I also had a pretty nice overclock on.

I was also surprised at how well my 8320 was handling it. Load percentage wasn't high at all.

EDIT: Look at these preliminary Alpha benchmarks compared to the new ones, if these were the true FPS' people would've gone mad. http://www.bf4blog.com/battlefield-4-alpha-gpu-and-cpu-benchmarks/

Yeah, the 8 core AMD CPUs are out-performing the i5s & the quad core i7s, while maintaining a 60% load, very good showing.

I expect future games to also love the eight core AMD CPUs due to the next-gen consoles.
