I am quite torn between these two.
The huge pro in the AMD build is that I am able to overclock the processor, and I can't do that on Intel's locked chip. I really want to experiment with OC, but some people suggests the Intel build. Do you think I should still go for the AMD build? Thanks! :-)
Also, please list the pros and cons of each build and anything that I can improve at to make this build better!

Doesn't matter if you can OC it, the Intel chip is still stronger.

You can also probably shave some money off the build with a cheaper motherboard if you're not overclocking. Something you can't do with the AMD.

Hands down the i5. Single threaded performance is superior to that of the FX. Not to mention the better upgrade path and the DDR4 RAM.

If you checked out my build for the Intel i5 chip, the you would know that my motherboard is a H170 and if I wanted to upgrade to something better ex. i7 6700k, I would have to get a Z170 mobo. Please take a closer look sir :)

I want OC as an experience since I am still new in computer building. But Intel's overclock-able chips are too expensive for me.

So you'd rather get worse performance, more heat, on a long dead socket?

Why not just save up the extra money for an unlocked chip? They're not that much more.

Left out the i7 6700...

I believe Intel's upcoming Kaby Lake will be compatible with the LGA1151 socket. So still plenty of upgrading room.

As opposed to that, the AM3+ socket is a dead socket.

but with an unlocked chip EX. i5 6600k, I would have to spend way more money one a Z170 chipset mobo and I would definitely have to get liquid cooling for such an expensive chip. And I believe a FX80xx overclocked to a good extent can match a i5 in some categories.

Haha, and you wouldn't with the AMD? You'd most definitely need to get liquid cooling with an AM3 chip. Not so much with the Intel. An Evo 212 is enough.

You can get Z series boards for the same price, or less than the one in your build.

No, it can't. It's ancient compared to the Intel chip. It gets destroyed in pretty much every test.

Liquid cooling is unnecessary. Some air coolers can do a equally fine job as 240mm AIOs.

In fact, below the $100 mark, I prefer air cooling for its much better price/performance with less points of failure.

You'd need better cooling for an AMD CPU over a Intel one.

Wow! Thanks for all of your opinions! :) I appreciate everyone of you, but last request. Can you guys check out both of the builds and tell me what I can improve on? THANKS!

if you really want to upgrade to have overclocking, there are z170 boards that are below the price of your h170 board.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

But I would also have to upgrade my CPU from what I have right now... And I would also have to get a good motherboard for overclocking and better cooling options.

then just get a h110/b150/h170 board and call it a day.

That's EXACTLY what I did sir, please take a look at my build for the i5 6500 above. I was asking for you guys' opinion on the build and where I can improve on. :)

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU POST

you did say you wanted to have oc as an experience, and the mobo i saw you add in was more then the price of entry-level z170 boards, so i said that as an option.
