Ok, so this started happening like 3-4 days ago. I noticed until today, that my computer sometimes restarts when im playing BF4. Its weird because it does it randomly sometimes, I could be playing BF4 for like 2 hours, then it shuts down. Other times as soon as I launch BF4 and deploys me, it shuts off. Im just worried about my computer getting damaged from the random shut downs.

My PC setup: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/x4ynxr

Any idea on what the problem might be ?

Go to Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System  Then post any reds, maybe be a kernal/bridge problem when your GPU kicks in.

In the event viewer, there may be some process with red exclamation marks next to them, like this:

As far as I know yes. Every time I turn on my computer, I run the MSI MB update tool. For the GPU I have the NVIDIA Geforce experience tool notification alert, so every time there's a new version I update the drivers. For audio, im not even sure if that gets updated.

Is it only when you play BF4?

Im guessing so. Other games I play are CS:GO and LoL but I haven't played anything but BF4 for the past couple of weeks. I also dont play BF4 that much, just when im bored, like once a day or once every 2-3 days. BF4 is also the most demanding game I have as well.

You might have a faulty power supply, due to the GPU kicking in more on BF4, which causes the PSU to shutdown, do you have another PSU you can test out?

No, but I was thinking it might be a PSU issue. Since having the beefiest 970 with a 650 PSU I think it might not be enough. Although the PSU I have is 80+ Gold and fully modular.

It is enough, try downloading another GPU intensive game such as Witcher/GTA V/Or any other game, and max the settings, and then see if it shuts down, if so, a bad GPU is probably the issue

Will a benchmark equate to a GPU intensive game ?

Yeah, sure, try Heaven, just make sure to max it.

I'll be interested in your results.

Mine locks up but doesn't restart, I can still alt tab sometimes. The odd thing is gta v benchmark runs most of the time but playing 25s or so the proecess stops responding this happens in all heavy resource game. I already Memtested and primed the CPU for 16 hours on both no issues. The only thing left is gpu or PSU

Hey, I just ran Heaven at max settings, and it restarted like 5 seconds into the test. Is this a sign that its only the GPU's problem ?

This means its either PSU or GPU, out of guess, I would say it is the PSU, as it only happens doing heavy load problems, but, without swapping out parts, as far as I'm aware there is no way to be 100% sure
