Hi!

I was just wondering if some people / one could help in with some questions I have in relation to workstation PCs.

Within my work (I work as an Architect) there is a demand for newer PCs. The director has been quoted some prebuilt systems but the price they are asking is unrealistic. I have good experience regarding PC building with hardware/software but only with gaming rigs. Basically I am looking to build some PCs for work that are running AUTOCAD/REVIT etc for the practice.

Would it be better to build a rig which includes i7 / 980 etc or xeon / quadro build and would they perform the same for the work that's needed from them?

Thanks,

- William

Quadros will help in certain workloads check benchmarks to see whether or not the quadros will be better for the programs you need to run.

But, for a buisness/professional environment I wouldn't suggest going custom pcs unless you absolutely need it be custom, because the prebuilts have a warranty on them, and paying someone to build 10-15 computers will be costly, and if something breaks in a prebuilt you can just return the entire pc, with a custom you will have to diagnose the issue then return the specific part.

Long story short the price premium for workstations is most likely worth it.
