Build log:

New rig for my sisters bday, she wanted it to be a maximum of 9cm wide.

parts haven't all arrived yet but it's starting to take shape.

The hole in the grill will remain until I get the GPU fitted.

thanks for the attention!

Yo, the clamps match with the MSI card:P

Digging the case layout. Very space efficient for an ATX rig.

Yeah a fortunate accident.

im hoping I'll be able to keep it cool by venting most stuff straight outside the case, we'll see.

really appreciate your offer, but as I don't have a window at my case and the green is just a gimmick, I think I'll stay with my orange board ;)

Funny build this often parts requested by my sis don't fit (despite perfect case measurements) cause one always meets unexpected issues.

found some fans in the cheapo bin which is good.

still waiting for CPU and cooler to arrive.

will post full hardware spec and over lock details upon completion .

Finally settled on a gpu mounting idea.

it is elevated by rubber stoppers from the steel plating, the rubber stoppers are rated to withstand temps of 250degrees Celsius. Doubt they will ever get that though.

will need two PCIE extender cables to fit it where I want.

big learns so far:

9cm is too slim, if you wanna make a slim rig don't go below 12 or so, 10 is probably doable but once you cable up it's bloody hard to manage cabling.

more shots to come as progress occurs.

Any takers in what the maximum bend can be in a Corsair h60??

well find out if it can be squeezed into a 9cm wide case..

Had a bit of a redesign, I have to ship this and the whole keeping it under 9cm was hurting the stability of the whole chassis.

Made her much fatter, 1/4 of the length.

While go with a honeycomb of wooden sides the front, top & rear covered with the mesh.

I also added some aluminium shielding under the mobo to help dissipate heat & increase insulation from external interference.

The slim case will return, but with different hardware ( in particular a less obnoxious GPU)
