http://pcpartpicker.com/list/7xsZ8K  I want to make a PC for the first time and I am not sure if what I'm listing for the build is overkill. What I want to do with the PC is play games at 1080p and 60 fps and still be able to do my schoolwork. I appreciate any guidance you can offer for me.

Thank you

Needs a fair bit of work. I'll repost a build here that's better. BRB

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Yes that is what would you call Overkill, now, id suggest Skimping on the K edition if you dont plan to overclock as well as the Z170 Motherboard, and use thoose extra bucks for a 1070, otherwise is a good "high end" build

Main PC:| CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 @ 4.1, MOBO: Asus B350 PRIME , RAM: LPX Vengance 2400 16gb kit, GPU: 980Ti Poseidon Platinum 6gb

                COOLING: ThermalTake Contac Silent 12
Laptop:MSI GL62 7RD  CPU: Core i5 7300HQ, RAM: 16GB 2400mhz, :GPU GTX 1050 2GB: HDDs: 256gb adata NVME + 1TB HDD

your build is very good, I would (if you are picky about sound) change cpu cooler to this however  http://pcpartpicker.com/product/WtGkcf/enermax-cpu-cooler-etst40tb or if you cant find that : http://pcpartpicker.com/product/cwPzK8/be-quiet-cpu-cooler-bk009

But then it has to be at an hour where your PC is on which is when you're using it, meaning you're torturing yourself doing that.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll keep them in mind though recently I did find a good deal for the motherboard I put in my build list though so I don't know if I should still change to match recommendations.

The build I linked will easily get 60 FPS 1080p most games and has niceties like an SSD and easy to build in case. I think you'd be best getting it and saving some money.
