Have obs output to usable format in the first place?

obs puts out a flv file so how do I make it watchable on my computer

You can watch it with VLC player.  As for editing, you may want to convert it to another format first.

how do I convert it

OBS can output as mp4 also. You can convert both with Handbrake.
