So...a few weeks ago my pc didn't turn on, I tried to turn it on by unplugging the psu from the power outlet, reinstalling the gpu, and after a few tries it worked. Today I left my pc on for about 30 minutes came back and it was off, tried to turn it on but only the gpu leds and fans were working, my mouse light was white (it is red when my pc is on) and my keyboard's lights wouldnt turn on (the same symptoms as the time before). I tried to do the same thing as the other time but no results. I'm guessing it might be a psu or problem. According to my motherboard, all the components work fine but my cpu wont work and the cooler fan wont spin.

Here's a video which might show you what I'm talking about.

specs:

CPU: i7 6700

Motherboard: Asus z170i pro gaming

Ram: Kingston Fury DDR4 2133mhz 16gb

GPU: MSI gtx 960 4G

Storage: Samsung 850 evo

PSU: Silverston sx500 lg

Make sure that all the PSU connectors are plugged in. This includes 24 pin, CPU power and PCIe, along with the SATA power. Make sure none of the SATA cables became unplugged. Are there any boot LED's on the motherboard? They could be blocked by a component.

Yeah, all the components are properly connected and the boot LED's indicate that the components are working fine. Please watch the link I attached :S

I disassembled everything, unplugged and plugged every connector removed the gpu, 1 ram stick, still not working :( . The motherboard debug LED's dont turn on, my guess is that the motherboard is dead even though some LED's work such as the stand by and the audio led.

I have the exact same mobo and exact same problem.

here Might be a solution.

Read it over before you proceed.

It worked for me and I was desprate. But do realize the risk of bricking ur board.

I didnt want to wait for ages for RMA process so here's what I did:

*****NOT RESPONSABLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS IF U FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS*****

Clearing the CMOS would allow you post for the next time and the next time only. that means you cant save anychanges to the BIOS and would have to quit without saving to get into the OS.

Now update ur BIOS to the newest version withe that onetime post. It should have the same problem with not posting the next time.

Now clear CMOS again to post and reflash the latest BIOS again with a USB stick. BUT DONT LET THE FLASH TO FINISH

Pull the power cord right befor the "Flash sucessful rebooting now message" and Your mobo should post normal for the next time.

Apply a automatic Overclock with the ASUS thing thats built into the UEFI BIOS.

DONT APPLY XMP SETTINGS for the memory rite now, save ur settings and see if it post and boots.

If so, then ur lucky. Read the CAS timing from ur memory kit and enter it manually.

If not set a extreamly conservative memory setting and try that.

SLOWLY TUNE UP ur memory frequency and check if it will post.

IF it post at original frequency, great.

IF it start not posting again. Repeat the steps above.

*But you might not need to start from the begining, judge for ur self.

*Sometimes you could just get a post with another CMOS clear and tune back the memory

Approach with CAUTION. mine ended up with a 2400MHZ memory running at 2300. and another one running at 2133MHZ.

The problem is with ASUS's BIOS, i've had two board with the exact same problem fixed exactly the same way.

Just wait for a newer BIOS version and hope it will be fixed.

Good luck comrade.

Did you get this info from any source? I have never done something to the bios version before and Im pretty scared of bricking my mobo.

Thanks for the contribution!

Trail and error.

Like i said, it is sketchy. But i did fix 2 boards like this.

My board was already unusable when i stared so i had nothing to loose, was gonna RMA anyways so i tried a few things and got it to work.

Do this when u know all componet in ur computer works.

I'd grab another computer or a friends computer for a day and test every part first.
