I have an intel core i5-3330 CPU @ 3.0 GHZ12.00gb ram

368.39 driver version and windows. 8.1 and geforece gtx 760.

I want to upgrade to the gtx 1080 and get a 1440 or 4k monitor. Will my system be able to handle the gts 1080 or 1070 and if I get one GPU, will I be able to run 4k good enough or should I stick with a 1440P monitor with 120 or 1444hz I been reading about and it has to be 27". I just love the 27" monitor, can't go back to anything less. So im thinking 1440P monitor and GTX 1080..GPU first and then monitor.

Or do I need to upgrade everything in order to have the 1080?

Also, Regarding a gysnc monitor. Right know I have HDMI and DVI input for my home computer and 2 monitors. a 24" and a 27", but then I switch to my work computer. I can do gsync on my personal rig, but my work computer, if I get a gysync monitor, it'll be an annoying change each morning huh? Cause I can't rung a gysnc monitor on a system w/o a graphics card.

Well the 1070 will get 30 to 45 on very high settings so if you can play with that its fine, also your cpu is a bit old.

The only way to use the GSYNC feature is with a display port cable, if you use a HDMI you'll lose it.

A 1080 would be fine, I run a 1440, 144hz, GSYNC monitor with a 980ti and the only thing I've had to drop in any game to get over 60fps is the AA down to FXAA. Which at 1440 doesn't impact the image quality.

My advise is to not get a 4k monitor. 1440 is the sweet spot right now as fps is better than the pixel density increase, in my opinion.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
