I'm wanting to build the most powerful gaming machine that I can for under $2000 (US) For now it is only a singe-screen rig but I may update that in the future. I have a parts list which I will link in this post but as a newbie to all of this I am open to suggestions and advice! I am also thinking about water-cooling down the road, so that is something to be kept in mind.

Machine Update!

After carefully considering all of your wonderful replies, this is the updated machine. This is also still open to comments, thoughts, and critique :D

Well I wouldn't recommend a hybrid drive, if you want fast boot times and such and such just get a 250-500 GB ssd, then get what ever standard hardrive you want for larger storage, the other stuff seems fine to me.

Why not get a Skylake i7 (6700k) and a Z170 motherboard instead? Shouldn't cost drastically more. Also, just get like 3 fans to start off your build with and if that isn't enough then you can buy more to add later.

You should just get one single 250GB Samsung 850 EVO M.2 drive and a 1 TB hard drive for storage. Hybrid drives are just neither here nor there.

It's a complete waste to buy a GTX 1080 with a 1080p monitor. Grab a used 970 if you're gonna stick to 1080p. If not then grab an Asus MG279Q and that will look a lot better.

The EVGA G2 is a bit less than the P2 and you'll never notice the efficiency difference so grab the 650G2 instead.

I'll post another blue and black build, brb.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Well .. if you are going with powerfull PC you might consider going above 60fps screen or QHD maybe. It all depends on the games you play to be honest. IF you are playing FPS games like Overwatch or the upcoming Battlefield one I would go for 144HRz Screen. If going for triple-A games a QHD display might be a good choice.

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/cVLkTH. You said going for liquid cooling, but to tell you the truth the best performing Cooler is Kraken X61 and the Air Noctua NH-D15 is equal to it without the risk of leaking, but well... its ugly. Also there is no reason to overclock unless you are editing where CPU speed is a plus. In games Skylake benefits from faster Ram more than from overclock. And this is why I added the 3200Hrz ram. I added a second video card that will perform better than a single, thats for sure. And all of this in your budget. If you already have a monitor dont buy new one. Save up for QHD or 144HRz one.

Tell me what kind of games you're planing to play. Because I can alter your build for including a monitor. But if you play both   Acer XG270HU is a good option. Best of both worlds, but you will need to save up a bit more for it.

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600, MOBO: MSI Tomahawk B450, RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 3000 (2x8 GB), GPU: MSI RTX 2080 Gaming-X Trio, CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S, PSU: Corsair RM 650, HDD: WD Blue 1TB, SSD: Samsung 860 ECO 500GB, CASE: Fractal Design Meshify C

Fixed major things that I saw stood out. Couldn't fit the MG279Q in there but this will work better I would think.

Go with Z170, since you plan to water cool it , if you choose the OC Formula you will have so much fun overclocking.

Besides that I removed the hybrid HDD and added a SSD which will be much better this way.
