I want to build a desktop for the first time, my budget sits at around 1500-1600 aud or 999-1099 usd. I plan to play newer games, and be able to do some light editing in the future.

I need all parts and I would like to have 16gb of ram, either ddr3 or ddr4. A good amount of usb 3.0 ports would be appreciated (4 or more) as well as a bunch of usb 2.0 ports. I would also like to have good ports for connecting to monitors (fast ones I don't know names).

I've taken a few ideas from it, and with a little help from other designs I came up with this.

Buying a 970  is a waste of money right now. and for a 970 you don't need 650W PSU.

I'd wait for the RX480 benchmarks, it should be cheaper and more powerful than the 970.

Do you have any idea when that will be, and I was told by friends to go 200 w higher than expected

You only need a 500-550w psu for a gtx 970, not 650w.

I'm from Australia, and I might just go with a 600w to be safe.

No, I'll find those myself though

If I were you get a good mouse first because the more buttons the merrier especially when playing RTS or some game which has lots of commands that spread all the way to the L key on the keyboard.

*cough space engineers

Later on you can get.

A 4k monitor (because why not) with a big refresh rate like 144hz will be very aesthetically pleasing to your eyes when playing games.

A chair is also very important because the last thing you need is your but hurting during a team deathmatch. So please don't do what I do.

*edit  I don't know anything about keyboards.

Loving the chair, and it's hard for me to get a good chair because I am only 16 and living with my parents, so they still get a vote towards what I can and can't do with furniture. Also, I want a ultra wide monitor sometime in the future.
