GPU needed?

To start off, I am not a gamer and I have never used anything other than the built in video output that comes on the motherboard. I recently put a new system together and am also getting more into photography and video editing, leaning more heavily toward photography. My pc monitor handles up to 1080p and I do not foresee getting anything with higher resolution in the near future. 

 

With all that being said, I am considering purchasing a dedicated graphics card. As you all know they range quite heavily in features and price. Given my above criteria, what would be a good card to get? I stumbled upon this card from newegg. Would it suit my needs or are there better cards out there for the money? Is there a better card out there for $50 more? 

 

As a side note, my newest build is an all-white build so a white card would be a bonus but not a requirement.

I would get a used 750ti

I would wait until the end of this month. The AMD 480 is coming out and will be a beast for a low cost. It will be around 230 and comes out at the end of this month

Am I missing something? It looks like brand new 750 ti cards are less than the card I posted? I simply searched "750 ti" on newegg.

I'm assuming you don't have a good iGPU? Because if you do, it's likely to just serve you perfectly, doesn't look like you really need much GPU horsepower at all.

 

I'd agree with the 750ti advice. Hunt for a used 750ti that's cheap and pretty.

Depends. For stuff like mobas or CSGO, 750ti again. If you want a little more "oomph" for 1080p AAA gaming, you'll most likely end up with an RX 480. 1440p -> Gtx 1070. 1440p 144hz / 4k -> Gtx 1080.

750ti is good enough to try any game in 1080p.. not the best settings but is a perfect card to see if you want to get into it in the feature.
