Need help with purchasing more RAM..

** My rig details are in the signature.

I currently have 6GB (3 x 2GB sticks) of RAM, recently I begin to feel that 6GB isn't enough for my needs.

I know the rig is old, but I do not have money for a new one so this is a slight boost as it's still kicking ass(pardon my french) for what I need it to do.

The RAM kit I have right now is a G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-2GBNQ 3x2GB.(http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-12800cl9d-2gbnq)

Now as the manufacturer page states its a 1600mhz RAM, but according to AIDA64:

20921e8ce615477691e2b71a00553e67.png

The RAM runs at 1333mhz..

I looked into options on buying either a 3x4gb kit to extend my RAM to 18gb or buying a 3x2gb kit.

Now the critical part I have trouble figuring out, is well the mhz & volts.(all the possible kits I found are CL9)

My current RAM runs at 1.5v, will it cause an issue if I buy RAM that runs at 1.65? (I.E. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002LZ1FPG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=SZS86ITO0DYD&coliid=I2V8E3MHQH1DGO)

Also second issue will it make a difference if I buy 1333mhz ram, because according to AIDA64 my current ram which is 1600mhz runs at 1333mhz..

The reason I'm asking is stick availability of this type of RAM, which is Tripple Channel and well they don't make it no more..

Any particular reason why you want triple channel?

I think you mean 2x3GB sticks, not 3x2GB sticks

Nope, there's no 2x3gb sticks.

There's only Dual Channel, Tripple Channel, Quad Channel RAM.

Tripple Channel was discontinued as they came to the conclusion it's not profitable or isn't needed.

My motherboard has 6 slots of ram not 8/4/2 slots like the newer ones.

I thought about it, most likely going to get a 3x4gb, difference in price is about 8£(about 12$) between the 3x2gb & 3x4gb.

So if there's so minor price difference why not get the larger capacity especially if my motherboard supports up to 24GB.

Also note that most new rigs people build are min 16gb kits.

I found a rather suiting candidate, 1.5v 1333mhz with same timing as the current RAM!

Also turns out my motherboard doesn't support 1600mhz so it runs the current RAM at 1333mhz.

It does support 2200mhz but nothing between 1333 and 2200, which is weird.

Anyhow, thank you for the help guys, you helped me solve the issue.
