Ethernet and speed problem

QuirkyPhoenix

So my dad has been pestering me about this for quite some time and he is wondering if there is a different way to speed up his internet other than ethernet. His desktop is across the house.

First you need to know where the bottleneck is.

Is it your ISP speed or is it local?

powerline? better router? range extender?

Maybe, the reason he said other than ethernet is because he doesn't know how to wire it or if it works

How high, different technologies have different speed limits so we need to suggest one which does not bottleneck that.

there are 100 meter ethernet cables but if you dont want that solution you can upgrade the router im using an wrt1900ac and my house has 3 floors and the router is on the bottom floor and the signal reaches the third floor

I was thinking about getting a new one because we got this one like 3 years ago and it is provided by our ISP.

So the best solution would be to run a cable but other options.

Depending on the age and quality of the electric circuits and if they are on the same loop you could use Powerline Etherent

You get a better Access Point and wifi card.

There is a few other ways but they are the main.
