ram disk bottleneck?

so i decided to use my spare ram to run a ramdisk for my browsers and other programs. theres a decent speed increase over running it striaght off the ssd, but theres still a noticable loading time for bigger programs, escecially gimp. the random read/writes of the disk are in the thousands, so whats causing the bottleneck?

Could be a motherboard link speed problem.
