Only 250GB ssd? I would strongly advise you to get a larger one or at least an extra hdd. With the size of newer games, you will fill that in no time, and then it's going to be a struggle of what to remove to get some space back.

Another thing, why so many case fans? You don't really need those, especially not 3. And there is no point in buying premium grade thermal compound for this basic cooler. If you remove this and add $20, you can get the 500GB ssd instead.

Also, get windows license from g2a or reddit, you'll get it for much cheaper.

  • AMD Zen CPU are coming out this year. Don't know when though. Haven't been listening ING to rumours to closely lately. So don't ask me about it any further. Just telling you to keep in mind new cpus are coming. Might be sooner or later.
  • You might be able to get a cheaper CPU cooler that people performed just as well like the 212 Evo or its successor
  • Don't buy additional thermal paste or does the pure rock not come with paste??
  • Get cheaper RAM. Higher speeds are noticeable nowhere aside for RAM benchmarks and some other very specific stuff. Definitely not In Gaming.
  • Imho 250 GB is Totally fine for an SSD.  Could still add another later on.
  • Get a case that is not a piece of thermal fake garbage and save you the extra bucks for additional case fans. Luke has a workshop video on airflow and one on number of fans. Two are usually enough but 3 definitely suffice. All GOOD cases come with 2/3 fans. Don't spend 40 bucks on a piece of garbage just to put 36 bucks worth of be quiet fans in there. Get a proper case with stock fans instead. I like the calm look.of the fractal design define S but cases are very much about what one like. Just don't get something that cheap!
  • out added a monitor. Double already Have mouse keyboard and headyet/ microphone and headphones?

Only 250 GB. My friend and I do similar applications and he has been running 250 GB only for some time now, it should be good enough for my purposes as well.

So many case fans was from a previous thread where I was recommended to do so, but it looks like I won't be using the V21 and will be using a different setup of fans as a result.

The cooler is actually a fairly good cooler based on reviews and benefits a lot from good thermal compound. Plus, if I save money on this, I will just save it not spend it on the rest of the build. I have a pretty good amount of budget, I just want to do only what I will actually use with regards to performance which means i5 and RX 480/GTX 1060.

I'll see about g2a or reddit, but I'm not sure, can't that get my license revoked?

I know about Zen but it seems far away and I'm not sure its worth waiting.

I'll look more into CPU coolers.

The RAM is actually on a combo deal with the PSU, I can get it for basically 60 bucks while slower stuff is 5 bucks cheaper at best. If I get a good deal, I'll certainly get lower spec'd RAM.

I agree about the SSD.

I'm looking into doing an ITX with the Define Nano S, it comes with 2 fans so I believe I will buy a 3rd and be set.

I have a headset and mouse and will find a keyboard. I need a monitor as the only thing I have is a TV with crappy color and pixel density that only runs at 768p...

I have 250gb drive on my macbook pro and it's a constant struggle to find space. Since it's a mac, there aren't much games on (only runescape and few indie titles), I can't imagine how you would comfortably use a same sized drive to play aaa titles, without storing at least your games library on an external drive. If you're sure that it's enough, then go ahead, but I was talking from experience and just 250gb of space is not enough, unless you have external storage, be it external drive/nas or cloud + fast internet.

I don't know about the case fans, I'm fairly convinced that the basic setup that most cases come with (2 fans) is more than enough.

Sure the cooler isn't bad, but it's not going to do wonders at overclocking. It still comes to physics, if the area isn't large enough, not even the best thermal compound will help. It's not worth investing so much in a thermal compound when you're spending so little on the cooler itself.
