I need a build that will do 4k for me. Pretty simple. I plan on doing 4k gaming, and maybe some 4k video editing. My question is, will this build suffice my needs?  http://pcpartpicker.com/list/CVHP6X

I am just assuming the 1080 Ti comes out, if not I can just go with 1080. In addition, the 850W PSU is for SLI later on. Any tips or advice?

Why not a 6850k?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I don't want to spend more than like $2700, and I don't think I really need any extra CPU power. 5820K overclocked should be fine.

It probably will yes, just wanted to make sure you're thinking of it, since if you're willing to wait for a 1080 ti, that wouldn't be a problem :)

Looks pretty good. Note that prices will change a fair amount between now and whenever the 1080 ti comes out.

i7 4790k | MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition | G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB | Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB | MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V | Fractal Design R4 | EVGA 650W

A gaming PC for your budget: $800 - $1000 - $1500 - $1800 - $2600 - $9001

Might want to go with a 1000w PSU if you're going to overclock and SLI.

The 1080Ti is still a long way out.

Why are you spending so much on the computer and so little on the peripherals? That's what you interact with the most. You should get better ones.

I can upgrade the peripherals later. The keyboard is cheap yes, but the speakers are just their for looks tbh. I am using headphones most of the time. And do you think a 1000w PSU is needed? I thought 850w will be more than enough?

Depends what cards you get. Some of the higher tier ones can use quite a bit, as can an OC'd CPU.

Most PSU's are happiest at 50% load. I think OC'd rigs with the more "tame" single 1080's are seeing upwards of 300w.

I always see it as better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it ;)

Plus the price differences aren't really that large.

Are you waiting for the 1080Ti? Or building in the next couple months?

I'm not a big rush. I will be waiting for the 1080 Ti no doubt, even if it takes a year. I already have a 1080p Gaming PC that's doing well. :)
