So next week I'll be hoping across the pond Europe and I'll be bringing my Rebel T5. Can the included charger take the higher voltage, or can I charge over USB? The back says it can input 100-240v in one box, then 100-120v in another. So which is right? Do I need a voltage converter, or can I just use some of our travel adapters?

Charge over USB will be fine. Anything that plugs into the wall will likely need a voltage converter.

I know most USB wall adapters don't as I've used them without a converter before. What confuses me is the fact that there are two voltage ratings on the back of my T5's charger. Also I'm not sure if my camera actually can charge over usb. I'll leave it plugged in over night then see if the battery can be topped off in the charging cradle.

Don't hold me to my word, but a lot of charges automatically switch between power supplies.

Post a photo of the sticker on the back of the charger block.

It's a camera battery charger, they don't work via USB.

No I'm saying the camera itself.

You can't charge your Canon camera's battery via USB by connecting the camera to a USB power adapter.

Okay, good to know.

Here's the back of the charger. As you can see, there are two input voltages listed.

Hmmm, the camera battery chargers I have only show one box with the values for input voltages and frequency.  My recommendation, just to be on the safe side, contact Canon to clarify with them so that if anything does happen you have their word (hopefully written, email) that they ensured it should work and you are covered by warranty.  Additionally you can buy a spare charger in Europe.

My opinion is that it should work.  Unfortunately I don't have any Canon chargers anymore to check if the same is written, I'm a Nikon/Sony person.

I'd rather not buy anything else, especially while on the trip. I mean it's only a 3 week family vacation. The fact that it lists 240v makes me think it can support that at the maximum, but it's really weird that they have two. I'll send them an email tomorrow.
