Should I encode my media for Plex?

Hi,

 

I'm getting started using Plex for streaming my media, but just wondering should I just keep the original file from the blu ray which is about 40gb or encode it to a video bitrate more efficient (5000-5800) and to lower the file size?

 

Any help would be great.

For local I would say not encode it. Any type of streaming encode it. It also depends on how much room you have in storage space.
