But how long until you can actually buy them?  The 1080 was supposedly released weeks ago but every place I've looked is still in a constant state of "sold out"

Yeah how long until that isn't necessary?  Until you can just walk in and buy one without checking and worrying over stock.

I suppose that's true.  Regardless, I'm just trying to raise the point that release dates don't mean much unless stores have way too much stock stockpiled, or you're very impatient, fast, and lucky.
