Live Streaming with Cogeco

Hey guys,

 

This is more directed to fellow Canadians, but if you live somewhere else still feel free to pitch in your opinion. Anyway, I'm ditching my unbearably slow Bell internet plan in exchange for Cogeco fibre optic internet! I chose Cogeco because where I live (Southern Ontario) it's basically just Bell and Cogeco, along with a few other small companies that don't offer the support I'm looking for.

 

I'm planning on getting the Ultimate 30 plan, which comes with up to 30mbps download speed, and up to 10mbps upload speed. The bandwith is pretty irrelevant, but its 275GB/month.

 

I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who uses this exact plan, or one similar in specs, who live streams/ has tried live streaming? Do you think I'll be able to stream games without choppiness or lag? 720P would be nice, of course, but even 480p at a solid FPS would make me happy. 

 

P.S. I bolded the mbps as some people get confused with mbps and mb/s.

definitely 720p streaming Sevadus a well known streamer I believe has 3mbps upload and about the same download and he has no problems streaming.

I think 720p@ 30 should work fine for you if not even 60fps.

definitly 720P 60 fps can be handeled from that upload speed

Your upload will be fine for streaming at HD resolutions. Also to correct you Cogeco isn't fiber they are a cable internet provider and provide DOCSIS. All cable companies run a Hybrid Fiber Coax network or HFC for short.
