Xbox 360 controller not working

I have a Razer Sabertooth and It was working before and then I took it to my friends house and it worked for a little then just randomly stopped working. I said "Oh this happens sometimes it will disconnect randomly" (which it does) then I got home to put it back in my PC and I does the thing where all the lights flash for a second and then it shuts off. In my experience that only happens when you don't have the Microsoft program which I do. So I don't know what's going on some help would be greatly appreciated.
