Help with CMOS clearing

Go to solution Solved by Poohl,

Clearing the CMOS is easy.

1. unplug the PC

2. Press Power Button a few seconds

3. if there is a clr_CMOS jumper connect the other two pins for a minute (on the motherboard)

if not or you can't find it remove the Battery for a minute. (on the motherboard)

4. reassemble everything

this should kill any Password, but you may have to reconfigure the PC afterwards.

Hello people.

brief story: i bought a pre-built computer, and it works perfectly at the time, but i have a problem. I cant access to the BIOS because CMOS has a password damn the guys who built this pc. So, i wanted to enter BIOS to change the run sequence (to install a new OS) but i couldn't.

I was looking on internet about what i could do to remove the password, and i read about clearing the CMOS. Is that correct? and if it is, how can i do it correctly?

note: i tried to enter BIOS with some generic passwords, but it didn't work.

so, if you can help me with some advices, i will be very grateful.

i'll try to post a screenshot later, so you can create an idea of that i'm trying to do.

Thanks in advance :)

Clearing cmos resetts all of the bios settings to their defaults, it won't mess with anything on your hdds.

All your Bios settings will be set to default, usually this is no Problem, but i recommend setting a auto shutdown

temperature and maybe check the Bootorder. (Your HDD won't be touched)
