Hi,

I am very new to CPU overclocking and was wondering if some of you guys could maybe help me.

So I have my CPU overclocked to 4.2GHz from 3.5GHz and my voltage set to 1.2v. I set them to these values when I was getting blue-screens before and it seemed to fix it haven't gotten a blue screen in almost a month now. Just today I was playing ESO and its been being kind of stuttery all day where my frames drop by 5 once in a while and it never used to do that so I assumed something was probably wrong and sure enough i get a blue-screen saying whea uncorrectable error. For some reason it wouldn't let me upload my dump file here from bluescreenview so I have to paste it in. Also I recently added the extra 12GB of ram in and i did a mem test a while back to see if that was the problem and it did not appear that it was.

My Specs:

CPU: i5-4690k

CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 EVO

GPU: R9 270x 2GB

Ram: 24GB

HDD: 1TB

PSU: Corsair CS650M

Motherboard: Msi z97 Pc Mate

Any help you guys can give would be appreciated or if there is anything else that I need to post please let me know I've tried to fix it myself to no avail.

whea_uncorrectable_error messages usually happen when the CPU is running on lower voltages. push it to maybe 1.25 and see

I will i just dialed the overclock back from 4.3 to 4.2 cuz I've read that 1.2v is stable for my cpu at 4.2, I've also read that my cpu should easily be able to hit 4.5 with my cooler.

All CPUs are different. They've all come from different pieces of sillicon. Find what's right for yours from trial and error (oh, and bluescreens). My 4670K runs at 1.25v 4.2 with my H100i. But my board's cheap so I can't go that far hahahah

idk

My 4690k is stable at 4.4 ghz @1.165v. No one can tell you what your cpu should be stable at. However, you should add a bit more voltage say 1.22v, download occt or intel xtu and run a 2-4 hour stress test, if it doesn't blue screen then it should be fine. If it does, add a bit more and try again.

I personally do 2 hour runs in occt. I haven't had any blue screens. If you're a little more paranoid than me, than test longer.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB
