I want to ask if Anybody have knowledge or experience in dealing with the new gen of alienware laptop like alienware 17R3.does it have a good cooling system and less fan noise or not ? And if it not what brand is good at that

The AW17 R3 cools well enough. People have managed overclocks without heating issues for the most part. Fan noise, I don't know about.

They're not the best in their price class, though.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

To be honest with you, that's a good deal. If you're not going to use the graphics amplifier at all then another system may be better, but you'll never get THAT much stuff for that price.

If you don't want the graphics amp, you could get an unlocked machine from a different manufacturer which will perform pretty much the same, but:

- Has a 950 Pro instead of whatever AW offers

- Can overclock better (especially on the GPU)

- Has Gsync and a MUX switch (can choose between iGPU-only, dGPU-only, or Optimus)

- Has better RAM (2400MHz 14-14-14-35 instead of AW's 2133MHz 15-15-15-35)

- Has a 2-year warranty

- Has a less problematic wifi card (intel 8260ac)

- Has the screen colour calibrated for you

- Has better thermal paste applied at stock (IC Diamond)

For the same price (including an upgrade to W10 Pro from Home). It will have worse battery life due to a smaller battery, though, and won't be compatible with a proprietary eGPU solution like the AW.

Or you could even get a machine with a socketed CPU (i7-6700K desktop chip to be specific) and GPU that you can pretty much upgrade whenever basically mimicing those specs for about $200 more.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I was asking if you wanted the graphics AMP. If you DO, then the AW is for you I guess.

If you DON'T, then the similar machine is here. Alternately, the socketed machine is here. Configure them as you like.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
