Windows version - product key problem

I have an issue at work. I bought a lenovo ultra book with win 8.1 preinstalled and a license of windows 8.1 pro with dvd. I formatted the hard drive and installed win 8.1 pro but it didn't ask me for key and windows were activated automatically and the version didnt change to pro . If I change the product key will the version change to pro too and how can I change it as it doesn to show the "change product key" in system?

It activated itself as there is a key already assigned to the computer.

I tried that but the message said that the key isn't working that's why I installed windows again. It's not an upgrade key.

I contacted microsoft and gave me another key to upgrade and then I activated pro with my own keys.

 

That was the only way.
