Build for 1080p? Need some advices for the GPU.

I'm considering buying this fall a new pc and the build I have in mind is this one http://pcpartpicker.com/list/RVH7Ps

This pc is going to be used mostly for gaming. Gta V, Witcher 3, etc at 1080p. I want the the settings to be maxed out without any fps problems.

Many suggested me the gtx 960, but others told me to wait until the gtx 1060 comes out with the same price and better performance.

Looks like a good build, as of maxed out settings at 1080p on demanding games I feel the CPU might bottleneck the GPU. I would wait, but 4gb of GDDR5 video ram would work well.

With a 960 or an upcoming 1060 you won't be able to max out lots of games without having fps problems, you should get something more powerfull like a 1070 if you want to go with nvidia or an r9 390 or 390x depending on your money. Talking about gpu's that are available.

Also the RX 480 seems to be a beast in price-performance, if you do 2 way cf you may achieve great performance.

Main Rig: CPU: A10-7850K(+stock cooler) / MB: some random FM2+ OEM / GPU: GTX 660 / RAM: 16 GB-1600 mhz / PSU: CORSAIR VS650 / HDD: 1 TB WD Blue (games) + 1 TB SEAGATE (series/other) / SSD: KINGSTONE V300 128GB (OS) / OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bits / CASE: Corsair 200R

Secondary Rig: CPU: A8-6800k (+stock cooler) / MB: MSI A78M-E45 / GPU: Using integrated from the APU / RAM: 4 GB 1600mhz / PSU: 500W (Came with the case) / HDD: 2 TB WD Blue (Movies) + External 4 TB CASE: B-Move Thyra

Peripherals: Keyboard: Corsair Strafe RGB / Mouse: Mars MM2 / Mousepad: Extended Tecknet (90x45x.3cm) Monitors: Asus VX248-HW (23") + Dell s2208wb (22") / Speakers: Logitech Z213

Extras: Phone: OnePlus One 64GB Sandstone Black /CM13 Nightlies

When I say fps problems I mean the game to be playable and as I've seen some benchmarks the numbers actually look pretty good. Now about the RX 480 we don't yet a lot and the 1070 for 1080p gaming is an overkill.

Well, with the node shrink it has to be at least on par with the 380, which is already a better 1080p card than the 960, so can't hurt for waiting for it.

Well if the AMD claim for the 2x R9 480 > gtx 1080 is true then I will consider buying one R9 480 and then crossfire with an other one in the future if the singe performance won't be enough.

Eh. If it's Fury level performance for $200, you can't go wrong.

I would switch out the 6600k for a 6500 as your motherboard doesn't support overclocking

I am not so familiar with overclocking and I won't comfortable doing it.

Intel "k" processors support overclocking but usually cost extra because of this feature. That is why it is better to switch out the 6600k for the 6500.

You could get the 6600 as well, but there is only around a 10% difference between the 6600 and the 6500, which really doesn't amount to a very big difference in games.

Won't the 6500 as also the 6600 (but not that much) bottleneck the GPU?

if you can afford go for it.

Difference between i5 6500 and 6600 is that 6600 has 0.1 GHz more base clock &  0.3 GHz boost clock. spending $20 only for extra 0.1 GHZ is not worthy

i5 6th gen CPU is very solid .They will not  create any bottleneck with latest GPU

I just saw the OC capabilities of the i5 6600k and I have to say that I am impressed.

Why you have the 520W psu on the oc and the 620W on the non oc?

Will the hyper 212 evo will handle the OC?

First : 212 evo is for mild O.C. You said that you are not interested in O.C right now. So in future if you want to O.C your CPU, you can simply replace that cooler.

Second : About S12 520W PSU. My mistake. I was going to add S12 620w

Lol then why you did the OC build? So this mobo at the first build isn't capable of overclocking?

I didn't say that I won't overclock, I am just not familiar with it.

Mobo is capable of O.C, even cooler is also enough for light O.C. But, if you want to O.C above 4.0 GHz than i will recommend better cooler may be water cooler.

What if the cpu bottlenecks the gpus (I saw some benchmarks that shown that the i5-6600k oc boosts the framerate 10-20 with high end gpus

First : I don't know , where you have seen those result but i believe on the bench marks from trusted website

Second : Bench marks of anadtech  includes both Gaming FPS and rendering. Look at gaming bench marks

  1) i5 6600 ( 3.2 GHz)  Vs i7 6700K ( with O.C at 4.6GHz) with GTX 980 : http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1646?vs=1549

  2) i5 6600 ( 3.2 GHz)  Vs i7 6700K ( with O.C at 4.6GHz) with 2X GTX 980 : http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1646?vs=1549

  3) i5 6600 Vs i5 6600K both are at stock with with 2X GTX 980 : http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1544?vs=1646

Note :

1) 2x 980 is better than single 1080 or 2x RX480

3) even if you compare i7 6700K with O.C at 4.6GHz with an i5 6600 ( at 3.3 GHz ) with 2x 980 there no significant difference

3) special cases like GTA V at 4K ultra setting there is a significant difference but you are not going to see similar result in other games. Plus, there is no significant difference in GTA V at 1080p/1440p ultra settings.

4) You will not get 10 - 20 FPS more just by O.C your CPU
