So i made a post some time ago about buying a PC for university (engineering in physics) and i have chosen to buy a lenovo thinkpad (presumably).

The suggestions i got were:

1. Thinkpad t450s

2. Thinkpad x1 carbon

3. Thinkpad t440s

So i know the t440s is a bit weaker but how would you guys rate the pros and cons of these models? im thinking of buying a model

with an i7 atleast but i have not planned much more than that.

What do you guys think? and which one would you chose?

You can always recommend other PCs too but please motivate why:)

I wouldn't obsess over what processor it has.  An i5 would be just fine.  Basically in university, most of your use will be for Office type word processing/spreadsheets/presentations, .pdf file viewing, and video.

Basically, buy the best screen you can (ie: 1080p IPS for a 14.1").  And aim for good battery life.  Those are good laptops.  I'd tell you to look at the Dell E6440 / E7440/E7450/E7470 as well.  Refurbs are just fine.

Make sure you get a SSD.  Might be cheaper buying a refurb with a hard drive, and swapping it out.  Are you looking to buy new or used?  I don't know what's available in Sweden so I can't help you with sources unfortunately.

Should have stated that i wanted to buy and im going to get one with a ssd as well and those

Dell laptops are pretty much in the same pricerange as the lenovo ones here in Sweden except that they look worse:P

Im probably going to buy the laptop from Amazon UK because they have better prices most of the time.

The T440s and T450s are literally identical. The latter is just one generation newer and has dedicated buttons. If you need more modularity, go for the T450s. Otherwise, the X1C or perhaps even T460s are fine.

Ok thanks, i will take a look at the T460s as well.
