Hello everyone
First off, I'd like to introduce myself
I'm Build-N-Play.
I'm pretty quite new to building PC's, but pretty good with general PC related things.

Now, I want to ask you all something

Hows my build?
CPU: AMD FX-8120 3.1GHz 8-Core Processor ($129.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Biostar A960D+ Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($39.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Corsair XMS 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($54.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.98 @ Outlet PC)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($179.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Cougar Spike MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($19.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: CoolMax 700W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer ($14.98 @ Outlet PC)
Keyboard: V7 Standard PS/2 Keyboard Wired Standard Keyboard ($6.36 @ Amazon)
Total: $501.26

I don't mean how IS it, but I mean could it be better? Better pieces for better prices?
A few sources were telling me that everything was trash except the Video card.
So? Is it trash?

Sorry if this was placed in the wrong board.

What are you going to be doing with it?

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

Forget about the bad memories of the past, take the good ones along with you through the present, and look forwards to the good things that will come in the future.

I've heard bad things about powercolor cards. Get a sapphire 7950. I'm no AMD expert but I don't think you want that CPU either...

You want the 8320 or 8350 not the 1st gen FX 8-cores.

Figured that, but I'm on a pretty tight budget.

Lemme go see what I can go get

Power Supply: CoolMax 700W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($29.99 @ Newegg)

Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer ($14.98 @ Outlet PC)

Keyboard: V7 Standard PS/2 Keyboard Wired Standard Keyboard ($6.36 @ Amazon)

Total: $501.26

The CPU is okay. a 8320 would be better price to performance

The Motherboard is not good. You found that out yourself apperantly.

Try to get a 2x4 RAM kit instead of 1x8 for higher bandwidth.

Storage is good.

Case is very budget oriented but i guess as long as everything fits, it sits!

The PSU is a JOKE!! 700W is way too much for that buid and $30 is way too less money for quality. Get a corsair CX 500M.

In order to do the changes above and not spending tooo much, step down your graphics card to a HD 7870.

I'd like to list some parts on partpicker but you are not the first one to come up with a $500 build, use the search function of the forum please. -sorry if i sound rude.

who cares...

Tight budget then go for FX 6300 and then upgrade to FX 8320 + 212 EVO when you can.

better here than b

750w is overkill unless you want to upgrade your motherboard, CPU, and case later to do crossfire. That PSU price is based on rebate, look for something that is a bit lower watts but still quality.

You don't really need the CD drive at all, since you don't appear to be buying windows? (even then you can install from USB instead)

You could drop down to a 7870 for a few less, trade in the Caviar blue for a Seagate Barracuda, they're faster for a main OS drive.

Why do you need a 750 Watt Psu? Go for an Seasonic Gseries 550 Watt 80+ Gold It's 60 bucks and it's pretty good.

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. Soon to be watercooled again, maybe, probably, the Titans are too loud.

First off, scrap the PSU, sounds like a shit make and replace it with something like OCZ, Corsair or something reputable like that.

Also scrap the board, Biostar are shit, go for Asus or Gigabyte, something like that, otherwise it seems OK.

Remake this thread when you buy then.

This build is pointless unless you're buying it on the same day of or at most the same week.

Plan later then. 3 days before buying at most. Parts and prices change frequently.
