they are wired in parallel just like a splitter.

they're called splitters for a reason. Not joiners. 

 

It would be best to go find a rca switch.

they should be easy to find for sub $20 on amazon or monoprice.

Will work for electronic components and parts

What? The Lepai has two stereo inputs - one via dual RCA and the other via 3.5mm TRS. OP's just wanting a 3.5mm to RCA cable like  @Mo5 suggested.  ;)  :P
