Looking to get an RX 480 on launch. Looking to upgrade for higher end gaming, recording, and rendering. What would you suggest? If I need a full overhaul, go for gold, however I would very much like to salvage what I can out of this rig. I would prefer not to spend more than $1000, $250 right off the bat for the RX480, so $750 left. I will most likely be selling anything that I upgrade to a new piece so a bit of wiggle room in the budget in that regard.

change the fx 6300 to an e3 1231v3 and mobo with 4 ram slots, or go for an i7 6700.

Honestly, if you wanted you could just upgrade to a RX 480 for a better experience. Your CPU isn't too bad, I prefer Intel, and your PSU can handle a 480.

Thanks Shadow, the list I posted is all the stuff I already have though :) Looks like you changed only the RAM, case, and GPU.

That's a terrible build...here is a much better one...and also clearly you are on a budget so why over 200$ in peripherals?! there are some very nice gaming keyboard and mice for around 50$ each and even less...so choose more wisely..here is the build this is a lot more capable both CPU and GPU wise and will perform a lot better across the board!

So unfortunately you didn't read the second bit. The build I posted is what I already have. I have $1000 to SUB out NEW pieces potentially :) Was wondering what I should change, orrr if I should scrap everything and start new. Keeping periphs of course.

oh i see sorry about that...just upgrade the graphics card honestly everything else is still fairly decent...

i would maybe consider an upgrade to a 2560x1440 monitor if i was you but that will depend on the performance of the RX480 if it can handle that resolution well or not...i guess it will.

Other than that, maybe the CPU and motherboard combo that i linked, it's good for the price and would perform quite a bit better than the AMD FX-6300
