Wierd Resolution Problems

Ok so I have a 1280x1024 Dell 1708FP as my secondary monitor to my ASUS VC279HQ, and the resolutions are weird. I set windows to display 1280x1024 but it doesn't match the monitor at all. (My desktop does it great but I had a motherboard issue so I had to remove it, so im using my laptop with its display off.). So, what should I do? (Windows makes the monitor remove 1/2 of a cm off of the bottom and top for some reason.)

It looks OK in 1280x800
