WiFi INCREDIBLY slow

Hey all, my WiFi is going extremely slowly, and I don't know why. I haven't changed where it's plugged in or even touched it (except for when turning it on a few hours ago).

My download speed is only 55KB/s instead of my usually blazing fast 500KB/s! (sarcastic, but 500KB/s isn't too bad compared to what I'm currently experiencing..)

What do you think is happening? Anything I can do?

Details: Sky Broadband (not sure which package, but probably the cheapest package)

Are you sure it's the wifi connection and not your ISP being garbage?

Although it is (for lack of a better adjective) fucking shit, it's normally usable and I watch 1080p videos without buffer. On occasion I even hit 1MB/s! I looked on Sky's website, and their minimum package is 17MBps (2MB/s), which I'm definitely not getting, so yeah... What do you think could be any other issues?

You will have to contact your ISP for this if ALL devices connected to the router is experiencing this issue.

If it is only your pc, then there is a issue with your PC. Maybe flush dns?

Hmm, I doubt it's my PC as I only built it last week. I'll try that anyway, though.

My phone's wifi is pretty slow also, and I don't have any other devices to test the wifi on.

Update: Just flushed dns, and I'm now getting a buttery smooth 100KB/s..!

Go to speedtest.net and check on both devices then. If they are roughly the same speeds (slow speeds), contact your ISP.

How much Mbps are you paying for? 100kbps is pretty slow.

Interference or a very bad router. I'm betting on the ISP though. And I do think you meant 1Mbit/s

Ok, got 1.48MBps on my PC, and it's downloading on my phone... could take a while

I don't know, I'm 14 and my dad pays for internet, so I suppose I can't complain. Although I doubt any providers OFFER 100KB/s on purpose.

Ah ok, just done the test on my phone.

PC results: 34ms, 1.48MBps D/L, 0.11MBps U/L

Phone results: 33ms, 1.65MBps D/L, 0.65 MBps U/L

 

Doesn't look like it's my PC as the results are fairly close and they were 2-3 min apart.

Good? I should have phrased it differently, I meant 1.48 Megabits per second, aka 0.185MB/s D:

Just done the test again and got 174ms, 0.15MBps.

The connection is sh!t. But 100kbps with 1.5Mbps is good.    But is is still terrible to others.
