Holy **** S4 PROBLEM

Hi guys,

 

So I went for my driving lesson this morning and left my phone at my house.

 

I came back, had some lunch and went to use my S4. The battery was critical so I plugged it in. It would not charge, so I took the battery out and put it back in to see if that would work; it didn't. I plugged it into my pc to try and charge it that way, my PC detected the S4 but not correctly I don't think (said unrecognised but my PC does that sometimes). The phone just vibrated every 10-15 seconds and came up with the emtpy battery with the white circle in it.

 

I unplugged the phone from my PC and took it downstairs to try another USB adaptor I have. Plugged it in, turned it on AND THE S4 STARTED HISSING. What the hell is going on guys?!

I'd leave the battery out for a while Sounds like the kind of odd things that would happen if it overheated.

Charge it without turning it on.

UPDATE:

 

The S4 randomly went into "Downloading... Do not turn off target!" mode without me plugging it in...

And you're sure you haven't dropped it in a puddle or something lol?

This is so annoying I've praised this phone for months and now it seems the charging port has failed, as it does it without the battery in.

Had the same experience with my galaxy y, although additional problems with my phone was the phone would display the charging sign without being plugged in, if this happens to your phone, I would suggest taking it to a service center.

It just sounds like bacon sizzling. Im an electrician so this is going to sound so stupid but... I shouldn't turn it on or plug it in should I?

Edit: or kick up a massive stink with samsung and say it could've caught fire and burned your house down, threaten going to the press etc.

Hopefully EE (T-Mobile) will take it and repair it. I'm an electrical engineer in training and this has all my coursework and photos on it. The only way I can think of is putting a charged battery in the phone, somehow backing it up from there perhaps using dropbox or kies (no idea what kies is). Then it'll be much less stress.

Yeah. Get some answers from Samsung. Your particular item number shouldn't have gone past quality control.

yeah. I think is a build material elitist. Plastic and metal is high quality. What the difference is in is the build material. No manufacturer will let quality management pass a crap quality phone.

I'm not a fan of the galaxy line after my S3, the soft buttons omg /rageexplosion, but to say 'samsung makes shit phones' is a bit laughable. If they made shit phones they wouldn't be the major market leader that they are today.

If your battery works, then clean the USB port. USB port got dirty after using.

And check the connector of battery , connector & flex cable of USB port. 

Or you can try to replace a usb port flex cable.

If it still can't work, it may be the charge ic on the mother board broken.

Warranty claiming time. Take it to your local EE store and get it fixed up or replaced. Tell the person in the shop exactly what is happening.
