I've got my computer all built, everything in the right place. I checked to make sure I have everything in order with the mobo user manual. But when I went to start my PC, it said that over current was detected in my USB device. I'm not sure what it means but I've switched around my USB wires and even took them all out but it still comes up with the some warning.

What do?

-BTW it's an MSI H81M-E33 mobo

It sounds like something is shorting USB header pins.  Try unplugging all of the USB ports internally.

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I had that same issue when I was testing some USB turtle beaches, thank goodness I tested in Win 10 first. I tested them later on win 7 and got no warning, the cable and the part where the micro USB plugs in got really hot. I ended up breaking the cable somehow, it nolonger charges my phone.

I guess I should have tested it with a better cable.

Try unplugging every USB device, and front I/O, then just start plugging everything in one at a time.

If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.

Sounds like there's a short. Check all your usb ports for bent pins and all usb headers on the mobo. There is a short somewhere if you're getting that message with nothing plugged in

I've tried all of your suggestions but it still comes up with the same message...

If you really cannot find any source of the short rma the board, but there is most likely one there.
