So, I ordered a new router recently to replace to AT&T U-Verse Router they hooked up. Here is the router I bought https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC1200-Router-Ethernet-R6100-100PAS/dp/B00D78Q2AO?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 Now I got everything hooked and bridged my old router/modem with the new router. When I go to routerlogin.net and it asks me for the username and password which by default should be admin and password even says so on the router and in the manual but when I type it in it says its wrong. What do i do?

Well, we don't have a modem. What do I do now?

Buy one. That ATT router had a modem built in. Most ISP's do this now, so they have standardized equipment. However they generally suck. I dont have any recommendations for modems. As ATT Uverse is DSL and I have experience with Cable Internet.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

use your ISP router, go into its settings and disable the wireless funtion so then the ISP box effectively becomes a modem. then you run your cat 6 cable from one of the LAN ports of you ISP box to your new box's WAN port and configure the new box and volla you have bridged the connection between the ISP box and your new box and you now hopefully have better wifi. networking 101

Okay so in order to disable the wireless function in the router settings what would it be called? Would it be the Wi-Fi Interface?

Alright so, I did everything you said. When i opened up my browser with the new router hooked I typed in routerlogin .net to set up the internet again. it wanted a username and password which by default is admin and password even said so on the new router. it said that that login was wrong and now i have no clue what to do

the default login is usually Username: admin Password: admin it depends on your router. are you sure you typed in your password incorrectly? or did you make a typo when setting up the new password? i recommend you google how to reset the password you made back to the default one then you start again from there

I didn't make a new password or change anything of the sort but on the router itself, it said Routerlogin .net underneath that it said Username: admin Password: password. Edit: I just found out that the router is refurbished and was owned by someone else I guess I will see if there is a factory reset button and see if that works

Alright. so, I pressed the reset button and went back to do the login to the router settings. Nothing worked. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do?

Were the instructions to format the router to press and hold the reset button for a while? I think you hit the button to just reload the router not a factory reset. Try googling how to do it. Also read the instruction manual as well. Worse case scenario we now know what the previous owner returned the router... At that point I would recommend you try returning the router and try another one
